The danger content in weight loss medications
Eating habit is the main focus in weight loss, plus exercise. People often complain its inconvenience, thus people seek alternative ways in taking drugs and result in illness.
Amphetamine: A drug that stimulates the central nerve system. It controls your appetite but it has multiple side effects such as nervous tension, insomnia, mood swings, or even the tendency to suicide or violent acts. If it’s taken for a long period or large amount, there is a chance of addiction, insomnia, constipation, and hallucinations.
Diuretic: This is only to dehydrate your body and do not decrease the fat in the body, however, if you stopped taking it after a long term usage, your will weight increase in order for your body to stay healthy. Its side effects are nausea, dizziness, faint, lowers blood pressure to cause serious health problems.
Laxative/Cathartic: It increases the rate in diarrhea even without taking the medication, decrease in hydrochloric acid in gastric juice (stomach acid), and decrease appetite. However, you gain more weight after a long term usage, and frequent uses cause damage in the digestive system.
Thyroxin Hormone: Increase the body’s metabolism rate to allow the fat to burn off quicker, but will also cause defects in heart pump cycles or infection in other organs.
Meridia: This medication allows the body’s internal secretion to control your appetite; it works like amphetamine but without amphetamine’s harmful effects.
Xenucal: fat enzyme inhibitor, it prevent the fat in your body from decomposition, thus the body will not absorb anymore fat, it is widely recommended by doctors to take it as a supplement to the low calorie diet. However, it has its downside like causing diarrhea, bloated stomach, feces to become loose or oily.
The Proper way to loose weight
Currently, many quick weight loss methods are introduced and passed from mouth to mouth, no food diet, low calorie meal, or even weight loss drugs...etc. are the most common methods people use to loose weight. In fact, over 90% of them are questionable due to its inability to perform what it is intended to do or multiple hidden and harmful side-effects. Even if the method is successful, it is very unlikely for people to continue to use them to keep fit. Harmful cycles from fat to fit and vice versa often result less confidence in appearance and possibilities of anorexia or binge eating disorder. Either to maintain a fit body or to loose weight because of health concerns, changing the habit of eating and exercise regularly are the only way to maintain a fit body forever.
